About

The Word of Life is a church in University Place, Washington, that also runs community programs: help getting a driver license, long-term care application assistance, and practical support for families. The original website had expired. We rebuilt the church site and created a second site, The Word of Life Community Impact, so people looking for help could find it without needing to belong to the church.

The challenge

What needed solving

Program information had to be accurate and careful. The client’s brief listed what could and could not be promised, so every page needed clear eligibility notes, honest status labels and limits, in language people could act on.

What we did
  1. Separated the church and the community organization into two sites that link to each other, each with its own navigation and audience.
  2. Wrote program pages in a fixed order: who it is for, what it includes, how to start, and important limits.
  3. Built an enrollment application that deliberately avoids collecting sensitive ID data online, plus a printable version.
  4. Checked colour contrast in light and dark modes and adjusted brand colours so text and buttons meet WCAG 2.1 AA.
